The OP wrote: “Such a lack of respect in this town. Driving by to go to an appointment we looked at the new sign that was just built and when looking down there’s a pile of needles. There’s drop boxes for this reason, children walk and play in this park and this becomes such a safety hazard as an innocent child wouldn’t know the difference and could pick one up and end up getting pricked by the needle. Use the drop boxes this town has made to dispose of your needles properly.”
Seeing this amount of discarded needles, in front of a fresh federal sign, during election season could very well be some kind of ploy or gimmick.
That looks like it was done deliberately. I know addicts and IV users do leave their needles around and it’s NOT okay… But, from the looks of this someone gathered/saved up used needles (if they’re even used) and dropped them there on purpose.
For this many discarded needles to be right there in that area doesn’t make any sense… It woulda meant a few addicts sat there and doped up and just left it all there. Which is what happens, but not like this – it happens over time as they frequent certain spots. There’s no way these built up that fast without anyone noticing.
Typically, addicts frequent a remote spot that isn’t too far from the downtown area. For this many needles to be in one place and discard it there would have been activity and at least a day or two of drug use.
For this many needles to be around there would have had to at least been several people, or a few people that were very high and on the urge of overdosing!
Once again I’m not defending addicts and I know this is a horrible thing that they do that endangers their children, animals, and general public, but with the election season and everything coming up this looks it feels fishy to me.
I know drug addicts don’t have much consideration for others and I know this is typical behavior of many…
But, coming from an ex addict and someone who has been around this type of behavior and seen how it works first hand. I feel as though someone dropped all these here to send a public message and I’m quite sure that public message is political and is targeting homelessness and street lifestyle.
The rise in extreme leftism, sympathizers, and public gentrification is making for some interesting (yet trivial) stories in semi-rural areas…
People really need to start realizing that animals (regardless of how cute) aren’t there for our entertainment, they’re dangerous, and we are their keeper’s now and we have a responsibility to control and protect both human and animal population! Obviously, human life and safety comes first and that is always the case…
This animal was wounded, sick, suffering, people were making a spectacle, and the people who euthanized the bear did the right thing IMO everyone should have cleared the area and let the situation be properly handled!
I have no idea why the woman who hit the bear and all the bystanders remained in the scene for so long and ALLOWED their children to watch the death of the bear, but that’s on them .
Here’s the link to CTV’s story on the NS bear who HAD to be put down
So, what else should be done? Who is going to set the bears broken bones? pay for the meds? Disinfect the bear? Shave the area around the wound? Who will provide the bear with housing, food, and do all of that safely and with insurance?
I feel for the family, the bear, and the DNR workers who are being accused of doing something “wrong”, when in reality they’re the ones doing the right and just thing and it’s just being horribly misconstrued by mainstream media and extremist leftist zealots…
Firstly, I don’t think the children should have been present for the Euthanization. The parents and/or guardians of the children recognized and knew what was taking place and should have removed their children from the area, shielded their eyes, or do like I or most native NB or rural parents would do EDUCATE your children.
I’m sure it wasn’t a deliberate act of malice and this is up to the parents and guardians to show and teach their children the difference between controlling nature, abusing nature, and violence in nature.
IMO – children should be taught about the difference between Man vs Nature and Man Coexisting with Nature.
We as human beings have a responsibility to nature… After all we have taken over their habitats, built roads where they travel, and we slaughter many animals for food and by accident.
We have a responsibility to ensure that wounded animals are either treated, adopted, harvested, or euthanized.
Especially here in NB, we are well known for our forestry, natural resources, and our nature conservation regulations are pretty strict when it comes to population control on wildlife. We invest quite a good amount of money in this type of service, cleaning and disposal of roadkill, DNR, rescue shelters, etc.
This is a normal part of modern life in a semi-rural area. When you live in areas like this with a high concentration of black bears you’re bound to see this type of thing.
When I was a young boy my parents had to shoot a teenage bear that had lost its mom/family at a young age and was now haplessly wandering around our township of Blackville, NB… This bear learned some poor habits after losing its mother and survived off looting our neighborhood garbages and even raided a smoke house. Eventually, things came to a head when my mother looked out the window into our gated front yard and the bear had climbed the fence and was playing with my older brother who was around 8 at the time (I was only a big toddler) but, I vaguely remember the event and there are photos from an old Polaroid camera with my brother wearing a 90s snowsuit, and the bear within 2 meters of him.
Once they coaxed my brother away from the bear and had a clean shot, my father took it… I’m not even sure if he had a license or anything. I do know that bear had been a menace for weeks, EVERYONE had their own personal story or close calls with it, and it wasn’t long before NOBODY thought it was “cute” or “funny” because it was becoming DANGEROUS!
People (especially children) need to be taught that these things do INFACT happen and sometimes killing is OKAY in nature! Especially here in New Brunswick, NFLD, and some rural areas in Nova Scotia… We have such big communities living so close to thick forest that animals get quite familiar and if something isn’t done and education is not provided, then you’re simply inviting disaster, you’re inviting the possibility of an accident, and you’re leaving your children at a disadvantage because you’re not properly showing them the REALITY of man and nature.
Needless to say, if children aren’t taught to respect these types of situations and aren’t educated on the difference between animal control and animal abuse/victimization; they’ll always view events like this as a violent or heinous act! instead if what it really is in reality… A mercy, the responsible, and the right thing to do.
We coexist with nature in a way that seems to disturb many…
I can see and at least understand why some people feel Euthanization is wrong and it’s noble to think “there’s always a way to save every animal”, I get it, but that’s not realistic!
Folks gotta realize that when you’re outside looking in, things aren’t always what they appear, that fuzzy/cuddly bear will literally eat your children, pets, and/ or spread some weird disease.
Stop calling the police on your aggressive and emotional family members! It’s obvious that people are getting shot and it has nothing to do with race and everything to do with stress, fear, and carelessness.
Not taking up for the police, they do NEED more training for this type of thing… But, people also need to stop calling law enforcement on their mentally ill family members, drunk family members, etc.
The most dangerous call for officers is house calls because of all the emotions, tempers, and the way people feel inside their own homes.
It doesn’t matter if you’re white or black! It’s about what you’re doing, who you are, who the cop is, and how much risk is involved in the situation… I’m surprised they even shared this story since the young lad is WHITE! How one is treated is has a lot to do with demographics, social classes, and the area you live in.
I remember the fits I used to throw at 13 and my mom still called me her “baby” and said “he has problems”… Honestly, I could have been seen as dangerous many times if the cops were called. We just policed our own issues. And it was a different time even 16 years ago in our sleepy little village.
Just saying, the police aren’t to be trusted with sensitive stuff like this. If they can’t control a situation they’ll shoot you, your dog, and yes even your family.
We need to all start realizing this and work towards a whole specialized police units that are designed for these domestic situations. And people need to stop thinking the police are perfected robots who don’t have the same human traits as anyone else.
Police may be there to “protect” us, but when push comes to shove they’ll protect themselves first.
I feel so badly for this teenager, his mother, and their whole family really! It truly is a tragedy and I hope the young fella pulls through.
Also, I hope the police are suspended and forced into retraining and this is internally investigated and used for the betterment of future situations like this. Police need to start having some social work training and get rid of the itchy trigger fingers.
I know sometimes it can be hard, especially with certain types of folk… But, everyone has their own demons and if hating me helps them get through their day, Then I’m happy to be hated.
Imagine desiring someone looks poorly/has a bad reputation so badly that you’d edit, remove, and delete ANYTHING that publicly makes them look “good” or doesn’t go along with the image that’s been painted of them…
All the while deliberately leaving anything deemed casual, trivial, or especially anything negative in place. It’s a very strange concept to unravel and is definitely of the psychological nature, but I must say it is interesting to be privy too… Even if I am beyond this type of behavior and thought it was behind me as well.
It would all make perfect sense to me if:
1. Things were deleted without discrimination 2. If the two parties involved WEREN’T on good terms 3. If they DIDN’T speak candidly/kindly on the daily 4. If they DIDN’T have shared business interests and a great working relationship 5. If they had a LEGITIMATE reason for disliking one another
I think they’re fighting over ex gfs/bfs even though they’ve both moved on and been with other people, I’m pretty sure they’re still in love with the same ones they were originally with… Now that they’ve both tested the “GREENER” side of the grass, I think they’re both living with a lot of regret and are blaming each other daily, but in the grand scheme of things they are each too embarassed to say the real reason they harbour such resentment… So, instead of being truthful and communicating and talking it out like adults; they agonize each other with petty/dramatic ordeals and pretty soon it could come to a head unfortunately. This wouldn’t be ideal because honestly these two work great together when they play for the same team!
HR work sure isn’t my forte, but I’m in a good position to mediate between the two parties… More than anything I’d like to see them settle their differences and do what’s best for everyone, their career, and their livelihoods/wellbeing.
When personal & dramatic socialite vendettas infiltrate your work life and aren’t “left at the door” (so-to-speak) things can get EXTREMELY awkward! It’s unfortunate to he caught in the middle of this type of behavior- Especially, between two “mature” adults who seemingly have nothing to fight over besides pride, ego, and stubbornness.
The situation is something everyone can learn from, in this age of technology and social media It’s far too easy to condemn someone and shoot them down before you really thought about the repercussions and consequences… Sometimes (usually most times) hurting somebody online and getting that quick and menial little bit of revenge, simply isn’t worth it!
Being the bigger person, making amends, forgiving, forgetting, and moving forward happily is a far greater reward! Even though it sometimes doesn’t seem to provide that immediate gratification that one SEEMINGLY receives from being quick on the draw and “hard” to others. But, Take my word for it…
Everyone reaps what they sow and I’d rather sow pleasure and reap happiness, over pain and grief ANY DAY.
After going outside to wait and sleeping I never got the call which the nurse told me I’d get last night… Upon going back inside the ER they told me that my paperwork from last night was thrown out and I had to be reprocessed.
To say the least I was irate… But, it was in my best interest not to argue with the type of person who was in charge of the triage today.
I’m so sick and tired of being discriminated against. In my opinion they thought I was some low life just there to get drugs last night – and when I went out into my van (which was their idea to clear space) they never bothered to call me… They probably assumed I wouldn’t be back.
Well, I went back in finally around 9:30am and was in and out with my prescription for antibiotics in and out in 1.5 hours… NOBODY even acknowledged the fact they made me suffer all night for no reason other than pure discrimination and negligence. I mentioned I’d already been processed and was here all night multiple times and they basically rolled their eyes at me.
I can’t believe the way I’ve been treated the whole time I’ve been at this hospital. Actually every time I’ve been in this hospital… and I want this hospital to be a good place I want to be able to say good things about it.
I’m in so much pain I can barely write right now…
I’m almost in tears and I can’t tell whether it’s from the way I’ve been treated or from the pain…
All I know is that if you listen to what most people say you wouldn’t believe that a “normal” middle of the road Canadian was treated like this.
Everyone thinks healthcare is free in Canada and it’s all butterflies and lollipops. And I can’t even get excruciating pain in my teeth fixed.
Moncton/Dieppe’s healthcare system is corrupted by discrimination and hatred and I for one have had enough. I’ve done nothing to deserve it and I get it from every different side.
The only industry that isn’t filled with complete EhHole’s is Optomistry from what I can tell!
We constantly see the accusations that all police officers, military men, and career criminals, and right winger activists are ALL violent, misogynistic, supremacist, psychopathic killers who enjoy causing pain and suffering…
To me people saying these types of things sounds far too similar to socialist, Marxist, and political extremist propaganda! The same style of fear-mongering and propaganda that was so prevalent in world War I, World War II, the Cold War, Vietnam, and during the Bush administration when we were trying to condemn Islamabad.
By the time many of these propaganda campaigns were finished certain demographics and people with specific cultural or religious beliefs were condemned and oppressed for decades and sometimes centuries afterwards.
Now we’re turning around and condemning our own police forces and military men who are the ones tasked with the job of protecting our innocence, our defenseless, our children, and our families when we’re not around to be able to.
Regardless of how we look at it we still need someone to police our streets and protect our civilizations.
I understand what many are trying to say, but The military MUST be trained to kill. That’s what happens when war and chaos breaks out.
The military does a lot more than just kill and they’re trained for a lot more things. When floods break out they do humanitarian relief, hurricanes, earthquakes, food crisis, and much more.
I get it – but EVERYONE from every occupation and walk if life has “mental illness”
From early childhood educators, to garbage men, Farmers, and yes of course police officers and military men.
you’d be amazed at the amount of sensitivity training in the military. Superior officers aren’t even allowed to Make physical contact in many situations.
When many think of the army they think of the United States Marine corps. The Marine corps Navy seals are known as some of the most hardcore in the world. And they need to be for some of the jobs they are given.
Over the years even they’ve grown more sensitive.
Our own Canadian forces Have some extremely PC rules and mandates that have only been recently enforced.
Police forces aren’t funded well enough and when they are funded they don’t spend the money on stuff like sensitivity training and public relations courses. And now with the new defund the police movement, That puts more stress on the financials of it all.
Honestly, The defund the police movement gives corrupt forces an excuse to lean on in courts if their legal counsel wanted.
Nine times out of ten it comes down to the politics behind a situation…
So, that’s why I can’t understand why everyone’s blaming the police and military, police, and people with guns; when they should be standing outside the houses of local MLA and politicians… And in a time period not too long ago the general public would be armed when standing outside those residences. Whether it was legal or not because they understood in previous years that SOMETIMES the public does in fact have to defend itself. We can’t always trust the authority figures and established organizations.
Most of the time we can – That’s for using your own head and discerning for yourself comes into play.
I’ve condemned police forces and specifically the RCMP for many things. I’ve even lived on the wrong side of the law for a lot of my life… But, we can’t blame police, military, and the guys with guns for all the violence in the world.
A lot of the time it’s rich folk, politicians, and behind the scenes deals causing all the trouble.
In my opinion transparency, honesty, and open discussion is key. A democracy needs to be just that, an actual democracy.
I wonder if this city will also be a “safe” place for Asian, Mexican, and the wide variety of other ethnic groups who call The American Continent, the USA, and Georgia their home?
I also wonder, who will police the city? and will there be any restrictions on the race and ethnicity of officers who’re involved with policing and protecting this New “Black Wall Street”?
I’m all for the idea of a privatized city that’s safe for black people… Especially, In a state like Georgia where the number of all ethnic groups slain by police is quite high.
BWS was great until; the market crashed, people began rioting, and some obscene/blatantly transparent plans were made for the national guard, deputized civilians, and members of the American mob to collude and somehow they were granted “permission” to “control” the riots in 1921.
A private helicopter was commissioned, a PREEMPTIVE and deliberately violent plan was formulated and carried out…
Buildings/houses were burned, smashed, and completely destroyed…
People were beaten, gunned down, and brutally murdered…
By the time these financially and racially motivated heinous attacks were done… They had left the richest and most successful black neighborhood in the world and it’s residents in shambles; the community was utterly destroyed and the crimes are unforgivable to this day.
The original report on the death toll was 36; 26 black people and 10 white individuals were found to be dead afterwards. Upwards of 650+ people were injured and approximately 120 of these injuries were very SERIOUS.
Since then, the death toll has been largely disputed and the numbers seem to change based on who, or what individual/agency is reporting on this tragic loss of life.
To see an up-and-coming black neighborhood be dubbed with the name Black Wall Street is either extremely dark foreshadowing or the success this new community will bring, to potentially pay great honors and tribute to something I’m sure many believed would never be rebuilt.
If you’re peacefully protesting… Should you be chasing a young individual up the street?
Speaking STRICTLY from a legal POV; This tragic and pointless waste of human life is going to make for a complicated web of legal issues for courts, prosecutors, and defnders to untangle
Regardless of offenses it’s not within a PEACEFUL protestors rights or privileges to pursue or attempt to apprehend ANYONE.
Wisconsin is an open carry state, individuals are legally allowed to defend themselves, the minimum age to open carry within the state of Wisconsin is 18 years old.
Law enforcement cannot enforce restrictions to firearms, firearms laws, nor can they prohibit the carrying of a firearm in Wisconsin due to state laws.
That gives the young individual involved the legal right to possess the firearm, The legal right to defend themselves, and it gives them the legal right to be on the streets – the same as the protesters.
Is what this young Individual did right? Maybe not?
Is it sad people died? Yes.
Does this have anything to do with race, racism, or the human rights movement? Not unless the shooter comes forward and states it does.
This is an extremely unique legal case and I’m very interested to see the outcome…
In these trying times with such mass amounts of public strife and outcry we are bound to see events like this…
There’s always been laws around citizens arrests, self-defense, and protection.
Remember just because something is legal, does not make it right.
At one point slavery was legal and promoted, at one point concentration camps were legal, at one point anti-semitic behavior was legal, at one point certain religions were illegal, different cultural beliefs very legal, and not very long ago many of these things were punishable by death!
Let’s all be mindful of everything that is going on and not be so quick to condemn and pass judgment.
Humans are humans regardless of occupation, ethnicity, or belief.
We can all discern right from wrong and we all have the ability to tell the good guys from the bad guys.
The picture on the right was on a feminist Facebook page saying “there’s an obvious difference in the two relationships” based solely on these pictures
So, I shared a very easily found picture of Donald and Melania Trump looking happy… It was not hard to find!
Google Trump and Melania… You’ll notice how she always has that stoic modelesque look… She’s trained herself to have that good, sexy, solid, poker face!
Most of the time Donald is laughing and she has that look. But, if you peruse the pictures you’ll see lots of them smiling happily and it’s genuine.
If you took a picture of me and a significant other fighting versus us cuddling in a photo booth…
Well, they’d be two very different “pictures” and if you wrote a story based off of each of the differently contrasted photos; you’d have extremely different versions of the relationship.
The media loves to “spin” things like this and they’ve been doing it for a while! It’s kind of like those bull crap magazines you see in the grocery store check-out aisle. The ones with the royal family, celebrities, and corrupt politicians.
Those used to be satire and everyone knew it now it seems that mainstream media has turned into something that’s very similar to those magazines…
It’s like the newer generations can’t discern fact from fiction for themselves. They always need someone else to do it for them.
Whether it be a celebrity, famous YouTuber, or just some random public figure that they follow on Facebook with a blue check mark…
What happened to the times when you listen to the people you trusted and respected. Now everything’s based off of views, likes, and shares!
Sadly, Even the governing of our great nation seems to be ran like that.
A quick Google search reveals much of the media’s narrative
Jacob Blake may be alive and well at the moment but recent incidents clearly show the WORLD needs a new type of officer…
An officer who is compassionate, not overworked, considerate of street level individuals, and knows the area and locale.
We can’t have these random officers showing up at volatile and inflammatory domestic issues. Especially, if there’s going to be a potential “racial motive” involved every time!
We need more police officers from different ethnic backgrounds, diverse cultures, and more sensitivity training ALL-AROUND
We also need more education to the public so people understand that tasers, limb shots, and other incapacitating maneuvers aren’t always logical or applicable in situations like this.
The man who was shot (Jacob Blake) was obviously distressed/upset! Thankfully, he is still alive and well… Those children would have to grow up without a father, the officer who shot Blake would be lynched (maybe literally), and WE (the whole world) would have a very serious political/public/legal incident on our hands.
Have we all not learned ANYTHING from the George Floyd incident? I thought the one positive thing we took from that man’s death was that we were going to stop making everything about race. We were going to train cops to stop fearing street level individuals.
Race does not need to be involved in these conversations – However, every single news feed you read has to write Hispanic, Caucasian, Black, etc In front of not only the “criminals” and “victims” names…
No, no! Now we have the media and even the legal system getting hung up on an individuals race and/or ethnicity.
It’s almost like the color of our skin, food we eat, and music we listen to makes a difference in the legal system and in this world that is supposedly equal and free for all men and women… It’s ridiculous!
One must understand that cops have a hard time dealing with criminals nowadays because of all the political correctness and laws… That is no excuse to violently discharge your weapon every time something doesn’t go your way, Or every time someone doesn’t do “what you say”.
There is no need to involve race, culture, lifestyle, or creed into this conversation though- the officer who shot the man was fearful, inexperienced, and CLEARLY doesn’t have the required salt to deal with situations of this type. He would have shot Jacob Blake regardless of his skin color – IMO you can (almost) tell from body language and general stress levels, that officer had an itchy finger.
So, what happened?
Jacob Blake was allegedly attempting to intervene in a fight between 2 females who lived nearby, cops got called, when the cops arrived they wrongly assumed Blake was the instigator, the cops did their usual tough guy/authoritarian act, Jacob started walking away to check on his kids who were in the vehicle, the officers told him to comply and remain still. But, Jacob is probably worried for his children! Jacob continues to lean into the vehicle to possibly calm his children, the police having their weapons drawn kept yelling at Mr. Blake and the whole situation seemed chaotic. The police should have surrounded and contained instead of shooting… It’s obvious that the cop who shot Blake in the back made and EXTREMELY poor judgement call and luckily Mr. Blake was tough enough to pull through!
To move fast and aggressive like that, In the way Blake did, especially when a SCARED/nervous cop is pointing their weapon at you, is a VERY dangerous thing to do and anyone who comes from the streets should know this – however, being a young father (the same age as Jacob Blake actually) I understand that fearing for your children, Trump’s fearing for your own life ANYDAY! None of that gives the officer the excuse to shoot him in the back seven times.
This man never should have been shot… However, I can see how a scared and inexperienced officer could panic here – that being said the OFFICER’S (plural) were both made aware that Jacob’s children were infact inside of that vehicle and should have known better than to open fire.
Very unfortunate situation! But, God or some higher power must be looking out for this family, maybe we’ve had too much if this type of negative interaction among the human race and now with a surviving victim of one of these questionable police shootings, we may be able to piece together what the root of the problem is here… maybe law enforcement, legal system, education, and the general public can glean some useful information for training officers in the future – I don’t think this shooting was racially motivated though.
I do think the officer was scared of the victim here. I believe his fear led to his shooting the way he did, he was scared of the body language and the situation.
If you’re scared like that – you should NOT be on duty and you should NOT be going out on volatile calls like this one… There is no excuse to be that jumpy, No excuse to move to violence that fast, and there’s no excuse to fire on a 29-year-old’s father while his children are in the back of an SUV, in the middle of a suburb during a domestic house call, in the middle of the day.
Protests have already erupted, the #BLM movement will probably use this as fuel to spark another vigorous round of protesting, and of course Democratic and other far left political parties (Liberals here) Will no doubt use this as campaign fodder… Even though there was no death, rest assured almost every politician/activist/journalist will be talking about this.
